First Signs of Enterprises Embracing Web 2.0 Technologies
New media aficionado Vincent had a very succinct post recently on his blog providing guidelines for online media companies to go about embracing Web 2.0 technologies, specifically highlighting an important consideration to make when hosting content:
Be selective in choosing which parts of your platform to piggy-back on other services.
It seems as if enterprise companies are already embracing this idea on their websites. Take a look at Discovery’s website, specifically where they run a new promotion for a partner deal with Nandos. The tv advertisement they provide is hosted by youtube.com.
Clearly this marks a shift in classic thinking when managing content on corporate websites, which would typically have been hosted in-house. It would be interesting to see the further adoption of more social aspects of the 2.0 phenomenon on corporate sites, creating a bigger sense of community among their users and customers…
